Crocheted Feather Necklace

I first saw this pendant in the Creative Crochet Crew – The Group. People were talking about it and some of us were trying to figure out how did the designer make it. The designer wrote briefly what she does on her blog but she has no pattern written up. So I asked her if she wouldn’t mind I use her idea in my design and write up a pattern. To my surprise she say yes. Thanks Regina Rioux for the inspiration. See Regina and her fabulous creations on her blog in this link http://reginarioux.blogspot.com/2012/07/crocheted-feather-pendants.html

Now after making two of these using different thickness of yarns, so many ideas come to mind. Do imagine making this using bulky yarns and make a skirt for a little girls  party dress? Must be fun.

Difficulty: Super Easy
Yarns: Any size and type of yarns.
Hook: Any size to go with the size of yarns you are using
Here I am using my left over Angora Batik/DK size and hook size E/3.5mm and B/2.25mm. You can make it into a smaller size pendant by using crochet threads.
A 10 mm split ring or a bail.
A leather string

Finished size: 6 inches

Stitches Used:
Ch = chain

Sl st = slip stitch

Yarn Container Idea

Have a great Sunday everyone. Isn't it wonderful when hubby and your kid support you in what you do? My son handed to me an empty protein container for my yarn, and hubby help me drill the hole on the cover. Son gave me one of of his eartips to line the hole so it won't scratch or shave my yarns when I pull it from the container. Have a blessed day everyone. InsyaAllah.

Mochi

The great thing about having friends from different nationalities is that you always learn something new from them. Our crochet group is growing. Now we have friends from Pakistan, India, Mexico, Italy, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, and Panama. How wonderful is that?

Yesterday beside busy with our own crochet projects and excited about new Merino Wool heading our way, Mee Leng, one of our friends from Malaysia taught us to make this delicacy... Mochi...

Here is the recipe, it is pretty simple really, but its delicate looking made it looks so difficult to handle.

Mochi
by Lo Mee Leng

200g glutinous flour
2 tablespoon of corn starch
2 tablespoon of oil
300ml water
Mix well then steam for 15 mins.

Several choice for the fillings:

- toasted ground nuts with sugar (my favorite)
- red bean paste
- green tea paste
- durian paste
- Nutella
- any filling you can think of...

Once cooled scoop with a table spoon about 40 gram of the dough, place on your hand after dipping your hand into corn starch to avoid sticking, flatten, put filling in, close and shape it gently then roll it into corn starch. That's it!
